OGUN STATE: The new Zonal Intervention Squad inaugurated seven weeks ago
by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Abdulmajid
Ali, has intercepted 26 stolen vehicles reports punch.
Also, the ZIS operatives arrested nine suspects and recovered 17
locally-manufactured “automobile master keys” which the suspects used to open
different types of vehicles.
Ali stated this on Wednesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the
inauguration of the ZIS’ office complex and tactical training ground at the
Obada-Oko end of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, in the Ewekoro Local Government
Area of the state.
The AIG said he established the ZIS to serve as a buffer force and to
assist security operatives in Ogun and Lagos commands.
Ali said, “The establishment of the ZIS, which comprised personnel from
the Special Anti-Robbery Squads from Lagos and Ogun police commands will also
enable police to quickly respond to distress calls.”
Ali, who expressed the readiness of the police at keeping crimes out of
the zone, added that the ZIS tactical training facility was equipped with
state-of-the-art security equipment.
The AIG assured residents that the force would not fail to enforce laws
and policies made by the governments of Ogun and Lagos states for adequate
security of lives and property.
