The Kaduna State
Government, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and DFID has just signed an MOU
on Strenghtening Primary Healthcare System in Kaduna State.
Speaking at the occasion,
the Governor of Kaduna state Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said that The purpose of
this MOU is to support Kaduna State's effort to strengthen Primary Health Care
systems, improve service delivery, and reduce financial barriers to access for
pregnant women and children with the objective of increasing and sustaining
effective and equitable coverage of essential health services, acceleration and reductions in maternal and child mortality.

It could be recalled that the Kaduna State team leader of Nigerian Urban
Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI), sometimes in May 2016 said that For every single day, Kaduna State looses about five pregnant women to maternal
mortality, and about 150 women in a month to maternal mortality.
