Social media went agog on Monday with reports that the former Chelsea forward was in hand to join former Chelsea boss, Roberto Di Matteo at the club that was relegated to the second tier at the end of last season.
Owner of Aston Villa, Tony Xia, set social media on fire when he claimed the Championship club were closing in on a “world class” striker.
Drogba was seen as a possible arrival given he and Di Matteo had worked and won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012.
But the 38-year-old laughed off the report linking him with the Birmingham based club.
Denying any possible negotiation, the Montreal Impact goal-getter wrote on his twitter handle, @didierdrogba, “Just come out of training at @impactmontreal & a million messages & trending on Twitter saying I was in Birmingham today.”
Drogba already has eight goals to his name in 15 MLS games for the Impact this season
vlla, however, have started life in the England Championship with one win, two draws and a defeat.
