Lawyer
and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has said that that the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) might not survive to witness the 2019
elections, if Nigerians continued to be subjected to the present hardship due
to the nation’s ailing economy.
He
further maintained that bad leadership, and not corruption, had been the major
problem of the country, noting that the President Muhammadu Buhari
administration’s fight against corruption had been selective.
Nigerian
Tribune reports that Ozekhome, stated these in Odo Osun, while speaking journalists
after being conferred with the chieftaincy title of Baa Mofin by the Oludo of
Ido-Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo, maintained that “APC cannot survive ahead of the
2019 election, because all other political parties like ANPP, ACN and so on
that were parts of the APC formation had been sidelined.”
“I
can see alignment and realignment; I see a third force coming on board in the
next dispensation. The APC is accusing the PDP of ruining the country for 16
years. All of them ruined it, because in both APC and PDP, you will find
defectors from the two parties,” Ozekhome said.
“Using
cutlasses to break doors of judges in the dead of the night and invading their
residences like rampaging terrorists and armed robbers all in the name of
fighting corruption is uncalled for,” he said.
