The
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has released Reuben Abati former spokesperson to former president
Goodluck Jonathan after what many have described as unlawful 12 days of
detention.
Mr.
Abati was arrested few days after he wrote an article titled “The dark side of
Aso Rock”. An article that did not go down with president Buhari. Femi Adesina
had to reply Abati completely infuriated and disagreeing with all his
assertions and Mr. Abati was arrested few days later.
Mr.
Abati was accused by the EFCC of been culpable in the mismanagement of the sum
of N50million he collected from the Office of the National Security Adviser
which the commission insisted he must fully account for. Mr. Abati insisted he
did nothing wrong and toon his time to explain to the commission that his
former boss president Jonathan mandated him to collect the money and disburse
which he did as instructed but the commission wanted him to give full details
of the journalists he gave the money to. Mr. Abati declined to do so saying it
will. E most unethical and unprofessional as he was an ex journalist himself.
