More Trouble For PDP As Sheriff Disowns Eze-Iyamu, issues threat To INEC

                                                               Alhaji. Sherif

If care is not taken, PDP may not field any candidate in the September 10th Edo Governorship election sheriff warns. This was contained in a letter submitted to the commission on behalf of Sheriff by Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, a member representing Egor/Kpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Daily Trust reports.
“Today, Hon Iduoriyekwemwen is the rightful candidate. So there is nothing more to say about this than for INEC to be on the side of the law, obey the law of the land. Anybody that refuses to obey the law of the land will face the music at the end of the day,” the lawmaker said. He however, did not disclose the kind of ‘music’ INEC would face if it does not recognise Sheriff’s candidate. The leadership crisis rocking the PDP led to the emergence of two factions, one led by Sheriff and the other led by Makarfi. The two factions submitted two different names to INEC as their governorship candidates for the upcoming Edo state election. The Markafi-led faction submitted the name of Ize-Iyamu as its candidate, while Sheriff’s faction presented Iduoriyekwemwen as its candidate.

When INEC released the list of political parties and candidates that would participate in the September 10 governorship election, it was Ize-Iyamu that was named as PDP candidate. But, Sheriff rejected the recognition given to Ize-Iyamu as the party’s candidate.
